Answers to Frequently Asked Questions: General Information
What is the ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program? The ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program allows you to offer the entire ASNC Bookstore product line to your own web site visitors. By placing an ASNC Bookstore logo link on your web site, your visitors can shop our entire online site. You earn money for every completed sale* originating from your site.

How much does it cost to join? Absolutely nothing. There is no cost to you to become an ASNC Bookstore affiliate.
How does the ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program work? You place an ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program graphic and link on your web site, and we track your customer referrals when users follow those links to our web site. Every 3 months, we send you a check for commissions earned on all sales that were a result of customers following these links. It’s that simple.
How much will I earn on sales? We will pay you a 20% commission of the order subtotal for each completed and shipped sale during user sessions originating from your site. You will receive a check at the end of each financial quarter. Although we will not send a commission check for less than $50.00, accounts that earn under $50.00 will carry over to the next quarter.
What are the requirements for getting paid? You must provide us with your Social Security number if your business classification is “individual” or your Federal Tax ID number if your business classification is “corporation.”
We will not send commission checks to an affiliate who has not provided us with their Federal Tax ID number or Social Security number.
Why do you need my Social Security Number or Federal ID Number? This information is used for IRS reporting purposes. We will never share your personal information with anyone. Your information is transmitted securely when you fill out our application form.
How will I be paid? You will be paid by check each calendar quarter that your commission total is $50.00 or more. Checks are delivered via the U.S. Postal Service, so please make sure your contact information is always up to date.
Do I get credit for a customer that returns to the Autism Society of North Carolina Bookstore after the original sale? No. The commissions earned are only for the original purchase of a customer coming from your web site to ours. If that same customer returns to our site and makes subsequent purchases, you do not earn additional commissions.
Can I track commissions I’ve earned from day to day? Yes. We offer a password-protected login area so that you can monitor commissions earned whenever you choose.
Is my affiliate information kept safe & private? Yes. All information transmitted on the Affiliate Application and that is contained in your Affiliate Control Panel is protected by our secure server. All affiliate and customer information is kept private and is not shared with anyone.
How much work is involved in getting started? Very little time and effort is required to join. Once approved as an affiliate, you need only complete our easy online setup process to place an ASNC Bookstore logo link on your site. In just a few minutes your link to the ASNC Bookstore will be set and ready to go.
My web site is not up and running yet. May I apply anyway? No. Your web site must be live in order to join the program. Without a live web site, there would be no way to track your sales.
Is it okay to participate in other affiliate programs? You are welcome to participate in other non-bookstore affiliate programs. Keep in mind that the more programs you add to your site, the less likely it is that any particular program will receive much attention from your users.
Will my web site be eligible for the ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program? Most Autism Spectrum Disorder-related sites will qualify to participate in the program. Any such site may join the program, but we reserve the right to revoke a site’s membership at any time if we deem that it contains objectionable material, or violates the Affiliate Agreement. Your web site must be up and running in order to apply. International sites are not eligible at this time.
Will becoming an ASNC Bookstore affiliate increase traffic to my site? We think so. Our affiliate program is a way of rewarding you for telling your site visitors about our products. While this may not specifically help you increase your traffic, it does enhance your site, which may increase the frequency of visits by your current users.
What are my responsibilities as an affiliate? The only thing you are responsible for is posting and maintaining the hyperlinks on your site from your site to ours, as well as adhering to the specifics of the Affiliate Agreement. We handle everything else.
What are the ASNC Bookstore’s responsibilities? We will provide you with the promotional tools and support you need to maximize revenue through your site. We also handle the application process, shipping, and billing for all customers you refer to us, as well as customer service. Of course, we also pay you for customer referrals.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions: Technical Information
What is a URL? URL stands for "Uniform Resource Locator" and refers to the address of a web site. For example, http://www.autismbookstore.com is the URL for the ASNC Bookstore website.
What is the difference between a click and an impression? A click is recorded when a visitor to your site clicks on the ASNC Bookstore logo link and continues to ASNC Bookstore site. An impression is recorded every time the ASNC Bookstore logo link is loaded and viewable to the visitor of your site. You can view both the impressions and clicks for your account by logging into your affiliate account. The ASNC Bookstore compensates you for completed sales, not for clicks or impressions.
I have more than one web site. Can I track multiple sites on one account? Yes - more sites mean more commissions for you! Make sure that you add the exact code generated for you to each site. The sales from all sites will be combined into one report and you will be compensated with one check. To track multiple sites on separate reports and receive separate checks, you need to re-apply to the ASNC Bookstore Affiliate Program for each site. This will generate a new tracking code for each site.
May I become an affiliate if I want to put the logo link on our company or school intranet? No. The affiliate program will only work for external websites, not on intranets.
Can I place the ASNC Bookstore logo in my local directory rather than accessing it from your server? If you know how to change the code to access the logo from your local directory, please feel free to do so. This change will not affect your reporting or commissions, but please note that other code revisions may affect the ASNC Bookstore’s ability to track your sales accurately.
Something is wrong with my code. Will you look at it and correct it for me? Often, certain web editing programs will generate additional code or alter it in some way. The best way to correct your code is to log into your affiliate account and go to the "Create Your Links" tab. Copy and paste the code directly on to your page. Check to make sure the code was not altered and appears exactly as it did on your affiliate account page.
With so many affiliates, there is no possible way that we can look at each site's code individually.
How do I remove my site from the affiliate program? To remove your site from our program, simply remove the logo link (and code) from your site. You are not required to contact the ASNC Bookstore. You will be compensated for any eligible outstanding commissions generated by your site if the total dollar amount exceeds $50.00 USD.
How do I create links? When creating your account you will be given links to incorporate into your website for the Autism Society of NC Bookstore Affiliate Program as well as the URL that will need to be linked to the graphic. You will use that information to create and link the Affiliate Program graphic on your site.
Where should I place the links on my site? You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as in a prominent location on your home page. Other areas you may want to place your links include your navigation bar and any other traffic areas. If you place the links in a visible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to click on those links.
How often should I update my links? You should update links to our products frequently. We are constantly adding links for new books and other items, so you should create new links to keep your site interesting to your visitors.
