In the Asheville area and parts of Western NC the Autism Society of North Carolina provides services through the following MCO: Smoky Mountain Center. ASNC provides Medicaid CAP/Innovations, b3 and state-funded (formerly known as IPRS) services. In addition, we accept private pay.
Direct Care Services
ASNC is an accredited service provider of residential, recreational, vocational, and community-based services. Direct care services provide children and adults with autism the skills to increase self-sufficiency and participate in the community in a meaningful way. Our respite program offers families a break from the demands of caring for an individual with autism and peace of mind that their loved one is being cared for well by experienced professionals. Low-income families are encouraged to apply for financial assistance, which is awarded on a sliding scale based on need.
Supported Living Homes
We operate two supported living homes in the Asheville area that house adults with autism who receive direct services and daily support.
Sara Handlan Crisis Fund
This fund provides financial assistance for families affected by autism who are in crisis in the Asheville area.
