Autism Insurance Coverage Update

Autism insurance coverage will be on the agenda for the March 4 meeting of the Joint Study Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorder & Public Safety at 2 pm in Room 544 of the Legislative Office Building in downtown Raleigh.

A presentation by a representative from Oliver Wyman, the actuarial firm that authored the cost study for North Carolina, in addition to many of the other states who have passed legislation in collaboration with Autism Speaks will present at the meeting. Other speakers will represent the insurance industry’s response to the initial presentations that established the need for this coverage. At this time, speakers from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, and the State Health Plan are scheduled to present.
