Summer Camp Provides Special Services for Kids and Teens with Autism

BRUNSWICK COUNTY– Gym activities, crafts and pool time are all part of a summer camp offered by the Autism Society of North Carolina.

The four-week camp provides special services for children and teens with autism. The program is designed with structure and has a one to one camper to counselor ratio.

Counselors said the goal is to build relationship and provide support for campers.

“This gives them a chance to socialize with other kids like them and adults that can help them express themselves how they should appropriately,” said camp counselor, Jasmine Campbell.

The Autism Society of North Carolina is also holdilng the summer camp in Wilmington, Greenville and Carteret County.
