Temple Grandin on HBO!

On Feb. 6th 2010 HBO will premiere a biographical film titled “Temple Grandin.” The film will chronicle the development and early professional years of Grandin’s life. If you are not familiar with Grandin, she is a gifted animal scientist, professor, author,  and the designer of livestock-handling facilities used all over the world. Almost half of all cattle are handled in a center-track restrainer system she designed for meat plants. I tell you about the HBO special on this blog because Grandin is also autistic, and a prominent advocate for autism rights. In addition to her work with livestock and transforming the meat industry, Grandin has spent countless hours learning about herself and translating it for the rest of us. This HBO documentary explores her use of the livestock industry as a backdrop to her personal discovery and development. I hope you get a chance to watch it. For more on Temple Grandin you can check out some of her books through the links below. We are also offering a 10% discount on the books listed below from now through June.
