Post-Secondary Education – Students with intellectual disabilities who want to continue their education after high school may be able to attend college as part of comprehensive transition programs (CTP). These programs integrate students into college life and continuing academic pursuits while also emphasizing technical, social, and independent living skills to prepare students for future employment and independence. North Carolina has a growing number of these programs. Advocacy can help increase service options for students, increase funding for financial aid, and add programs to more universities and colleges.
