It’s a camp so cool that it’s known as Camp Awesome.
The Autism Society’s Winterville branch in Pitt County is wrapping up it’s eight week summer camp for kids and teens.
They’re also preparing to start enrolling for after school programs for the new school year.
Camp activities included musical instruction and performance, along with a wide array of physical activities.
The programs are tailored to meet the various needs of each particular child and one-on-one camp counseling is provided.
“This is so much more than just a summer camp,” says Amanda Rissmeyer with the Autism Society of North Carolina. “We love and accept all of our children for who they are, and we get to know them and we seek to understand them.”
