Jack’s Story
When Jack was diagnosed at 2, he was nonverbal and didn’t understand danger. Now, he is in college and has achieved many goals with the support of the Autism Society of North Carolina.
Jack was diagnosed with autism when he was 2 years old; he was completely nonverbal. The Autism Society of North Carolina has been a partner to Jack and his family throughout his lifetime, helping them set and reach goals.
In the beginning, the goals were as simple as tolerating brushing his teeth or taking a bath. Now Jack does those tasks independently and is working on making basic meals and improving his relationship with his siblings.
Last spring, Jack graduated from high school with his diploma! Jack’s next goal is to find a job that he finds fulfilling. In the meantime, Jack will keep working on his goals with his family and ASNC support. “We’re pushing onward and upward,” his mother said.
