Three Musketeers

Matthew went to Camp Royall hoping to make a friend. At the end of it all, he had two best friends for life.

When Matthew started middle school, his social difficulties grew, and his parents watched in despair as he became withdrawn and sad. His greatest wish was to have a friend.

Then Matthew received a scholarship for a week of summer camp at the Autism Society of North Carolina’s Camp Royall. By Wednesday at camp, he was anxious to get off the nightly phone call with his parents so he could get back to hanging out with his two new buddies.

Since camp, the “Three Musketeers” (as they call themselves) have spent several weekends together. Even better is the change his parents can see in Matthew. He is a strong and confident teen with not one, but two best friends.
