Residential Issues To Be Reviewed in the NC Legislature

The next meeting of the Joint Study Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorders, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and First Responders will be Thursday, April 15 at 1:30 pm, in Room 643 Legislative Office Building.  If you are not able to attend, you can listen to the proceedings; select Room 643 LOB.   The Committee will be discussing residential issues.  Speakers include Pam Silberman, Executive Director of the Institute of Medicine, who will be presenting information from the recently released Successful Transitions for People with Intellectual and Other Developmental Disabilities.  Dawn Allen, Executive Director of GHA, a residential provider, will help legislators to understand the needs, challenges, and obstacles to providing residential services to individuals with ASD.
The Committee will resume discussions of health insurance coverage at their next full meeting (date TBA).  Always check to make sure that there have not been schedule or room changes at: http://www.ncleg.net/.
