Dear Families, Friends, and Supporters,
Our hearts go out to North Carolinians who are suffering because of Hurricane Florence.
We know that thousands of people are being affected. Some have had to leave their homes and belongings behind. Some remain in their homes, but their lives have been disrupted by a lack of electricity, school and service closings or cancellations, and storm cleanup. These challenges could go on for weeks because of the horrific flooding.
We know that these circumstances can be especially trying for our loved ones with autism. If you need support in trying to deal with these disruptions, please call on us. We have posted on our website a social narrative titled āI Canāt Go Homeā that we hope will help, and we have gathered a page of all hurricane-related resources and information on our website.
The Autism Society of North Carolina has Autism Resource Specialists to help families in every county of North Carolina. They are all parents of children or adults with autism themselves, so they have firsthand knowledge as well as training and professional experience. Find contact information for an Autism Resource Specialist near you on our website or call us at 1-800-442-2762 and we will connect you with one.
We are all better together. Please do not hesitate to call on us.
Sincerely,
Tracey Sheriff
CEO
